Brittany came to her senior photo-shoot with very specific looks in mind that she wanted us to photograph. She loved the “golden country field” look as well as a bit of an urban grunge feel. Her outfits were amazing and she knows exactly what styled flatter her best.

She’s also one of our 2014 Spokesmodels and so I knew, from having photographed her before, that she is fun, easy and inspiring to photograph. A simple “look here”/”stand like this”/”show this emotion” and voila, Brittany is picture-ready. Her eyes sparkle and shine and her smile lights her face.

The most amazing side note: during the photo shoot we realized that Brittany’s mom, Julie, knew my photographer-grandparents AND had her own senior portraits done in their studio when they were still alive and owned “Van’s Studio” in Chico, CA on main street! AND she also worked for my uncle’s lab “The Color Lab” in Chico as well! WHAT. A. SMALL. WORLD. Wouldn’t you say? Most people wouldn’t realize what an amazing thing that is when I run into people that knew their studio or, better yet, had their photos taken there because my grandparents passed long before they knew that I opened my own professional studio. So running across a client of theirs makes me smile.

Brittany is an artist—she loves to paint. Capturing her passion for painting was a priority in her senior pictures. Here she is, photographed in Granite Bay (Sacramento), painting and looking lovely:
